for a cause their life did lay
blood drips from this land today
based on ideals of freedom did this land once start
now from them seems far so far away
far away from what was envisioned
the “land of gold” wasting away…
poverty stricken it lies like the servant
deprived of his wages due……
fruitless promises ….broken…..broken
by a few who for “the people” have spoken
like the child that steals from it’s mothers breast
kicks her and then asks her to rest…
double standards now prevail
the country of truth now stands veiled
with tarnished face now it stands
weeping in the corner …cast away by man
