The Dawn Of The Light...

The still night is stirred by a gentle breeze
The leaves awakened from their dusty beds
The bats and owls discuss change
Oh!how the wind howls...it seems so strange...

Slowly move the heavy clouds
Now laden with their burden dark
Over the moor they slowly pass
Casting shadows on the sheeted glass..

In the night a cry is heard
Shrieking across the dead sky
As the zombie,so wide awake
Is trying...
Trying to cry..
For his mind, he has filled..with "knowledge"abounding
But knoweth  he not how to think..or reason without doubting...

Burn... he burns those "books" of his
For they are not worth keeping
For "knowledge" gained is time lost
Is his heart repeating

All his life he tried and tried
But nothing did he gain
Nor did he earn the respect of man
Nor did he stop the pain

The pain of hunger that burns inside
For "true" knowledge yearning
For deep somewhere ..it does reside
The urge for "true" learning

Really beautiful Josh!
Some more lines on 'true learning' would have given the message clarity. Its only at the end we know what you are looking at.
But beautifully written.

Amazing poetry and a great theme !! (although I don't like the idea of burning books - but the rest of the poem's awesome...)

The best part of the poem was the great nature imagery IMO...
